I know that it is not diplomatic to hate a trend, that most are cooing over, BUT, I am the blog writer, and am therefore allowed to have my own thoughts, and I have been given a platform — if you have a varying opinion, write me! Comment on the post, and I will be happy to re-evaluate.
SO, now that that disclaimer is over and done with. I will now discuss the shoe trends for Fall, as we are now in September, and although Toronto is in a total heat-wave, I hate to be the bearer of bad news: the winter weather cometh! (For those of you living in a land without seasons, perhaps you could work the colourways into your wardrobe, and not necessarily the fur embellishments that would surely make you melt — oh, and colourways is just “fashion speak” for the colors for the season and the varying tones that a piece will come in).
Here is a shoe that really falls into two huge trends for Fall 2010, fur, and the all important bootie.

This leather platform with fur is a Louboutin, as the red soles announce. Now, let’s be very clear, I love THIS shoe, I however, have a huge issue with the booties for Fall. Here is one that I am also in love with before I get into the ones that I take offense to:

This is the Viktor & Rolf shearling wedge bootie. Now, I am generally crazy about anything they do (Flowerbomb has been my go-to scent since it came out, and I am totally addicted to how sickly syrupy it goes on, and how gently floral it becomes). This boot is “different”. It takes the bootie idea, throws it out the window and recreates the shoe in it’s own image. And here is another shoe that totally does the same:
This is the Rochas pump in calf-hair. This is a huge trend! ANYTHING leopard print, and this inverted wedge is a new-shape that is really starting to gain momentum. Alexander Wang came out with a bootie with this shape heel as well:

I like it, but will have to try it on to really get a feel for how this is to walk around in.
Now, I usually die for anything Phillip Lim 3.1 comes out with. But I have taken issue with this shoe. Those of you who worship him might have to avert your eyes:

This man bootie with wedge just irks me. And now another shoe I don’t think I could wear:

This Tory Burch lug soled boots. I hate a traditional lug-sole. I remember when lugs were all the rage, I was still in high-school, I had yet grown an inch since middle school, and had painfully skinny legs. Lugs, or anything of this chunky nature just looked ridiculous, and NOT good ridiculous. I also was just not cool enough to pull this off. When other Canadian girls sported their flare jeans, roots sweaters, and lugs, I could only dream of something so slick. I was still in dresses. Have you noticed a trend yet?
By far my most favorite trend for the season is the kitten heal. Childhood memories aside, I am happy to see a heel that can actually be walked in. Teetering around in the past seasons sky-scraper stilettos, a shorter more lady-like heel is a refreshing change. It seems new, even though it is decades old. Prada really did this trend best this season.

I know that it is quite ironic that I mentioned that this heel is easier to walk in, and the model is slipping right out of these on the runway, but she is wearing tights with these heels. ANOTHER huge trend, the super textured stocking with a dainty heel. I love this trend and will fully try it out.

Oh, and I refuse to even comment on the return if the CLOG! I know that it is huge, its been around for a few seasons, I know I should wear it… but I just cant. The word makes me cringe. Some words just illicit shivers down my spine, and CLOG is one of them (other words include gout, piss and panties). It is just so clunky, and frankly too cool for school for my liking. I am not that cool… I like the classics generally speaking.
So, that is all for now. I will get back to you with more shoes. More pumps, less boots, and purses! (I die for a good bag, by far my favorite thing to get and receive – I have a problem. Maybe I should post about my own collection, hmmm… however, that would be another post about my personal life, THISone was my first) and jewelry!
Oh fall, how I love thee.
xoxo
